The incident occurred during a concert by the famous singer Ruby Perez. Among the deceased are the Governor of Monte Cristi Province, Nelsy Cruz, and former Major League Baseball player Octavio Dotel. Hundreds of people were inside the club at the time of the collapse, and many are feared to be trapped under the rubble. Rescue operations are still ongoing, and authorities fear the death toll may rise. However, the director of the Emergency Operations Center has expressed hope that some people might still be alive under the debris.
