Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan will tried in a military court for the May 9 violence after his detention from the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

In an interview with a private TV channel on Tuesday, the security czar said, “Imran Khan made a programme to target military installations and ensured its implementation so according to my understanding, it is a case of the military court.

He said that the erstwhile prime minister, the “mastermind” of the attacks and had planned them before.

“Imran Khan, the main architect of this,” the minister stated.

He said the government has “evidence” of Khan’s involvement.

On May 9, PTI supporters allegedly looted government and military facilities in protest of the PTI chief’s imprisonment.

The administration brought in the army and said demonstrators would tried under army law to quell the violence.

PTI workers and leaders have arrested nationwide.

An ATC in Faisalabad handed over four accused of targeting defence sites during May 9 riots to the military court today.

The Rawalpindi ATC transferred eight accused of attacking the GHQ during the May 9 riots to military courts.

After Deputy Prosecutor General Malik Rafqat Ali petitioned ATC Judge Hamid Hussain, the cases were transferred to military courts.

Last Thursday, the commanding officer received 16 suspects, including an ex-PTI MPA, who ransacked and vandalised Jinnah House in Lahore.
