Lahore: The LHC granted interim protective bail to former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman. Court granted bail until June 21. Bail is in a case involving alleged fraud in the sale of gifts he retained from the Toshakhana.
The FIR filed at Islamabad’s Kohsar police station a day earlier, accusing the deposed premier. As well as his wife Bushra Bibi, ex-accountability czar Shahzad Akbar, and others of fraud. It also contains charges of forgery for the purpose of cheating, and presenting a fake receipt of the complainant’s business letterhead wherein false receipt showing sale purchases of gifts like watches
Islamabad watch dealer Naseemul Haq filed the FIR.
“As per the record, no such transaction regarding the sale and above-mentioned items has ever taken place with such nominated accused persons and neither the accused persons have sold us any such items,” the FIR stated.
Moreover, The PTI leader requested protective bail from the LHC today. The ex-premier said the court he “falsely implicated” in the FIR with “mala fide intention and ulterior motive”.
In his petition, the ousted prime minister claimed the FIR harassed, blackmailed, and politically victimised him.
Khan’s lawyer, Barrister Salman Safdar, informed LHC Judge Justice Amjad Rafique that the NAB and FIA have taken action against his client in the Toshakhana matter.
As the PTI chief had to appear in 11 Islamabad courts on June 8, he requested precautionary bail. In court, the lawyer informed that his client, who already faces over 150 counts, had charged with murdering a lawyer again. The ex-premier attended the trial.
The PTI chairman granted protective bail until June 21 and ordered to appear before the competent court.
