Lahore: As part of the regional government’s school health screening project, every child will be checked for diseases like thalassemia before they take their ninth-grade exams, Caretaker Health Minister Dr. Javed Akram said in a meeting on Thursday.

The minister says that the project will protect people from dangerous diseases now and in the future.

“The health screening scheme in schools will change the game. Children in Pakistan will screened on such a big scale for the first time in the country’s history. “Dr. Akram said that Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has chosen to start a health screening program in schools to protect kids from dangerous diseases.

He also said that the Punjab cabinet will give the final OK for the planned law to be made by the law department. The Punjab Health Care Commission will have a big part to play in making sure kids are healthy.

Moreover, The minister said that the steering group will look at all the technical parts of this. The meeting took place in the Department of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education. It was led by Dr. Akram and Dr. Jamal Nasir, who have both looked over the rules for blood screenings of ninth-grade students in Punjab schools.

While, The acting minister of the department in charge of primary and secondary health care said that the Punjab Health Care Commission will check all the labs that screen children’s health.

Every day, the families of people with dangerous diseases like thalassemia go through a lot of pain. He said that through the schools’ health check program, parents can keep their kids from getting disabilities that will last their whole lives.
