Judicial panel considers SC nominations

ISLAMABAD: The Judicial Commission of Pakistan will meet in Islamabad on June 14 to discuss Supreme Court nominees.

The respected Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Mussarat Hilali expected to remain a strong contender for the esteemed judicial institution.

The consultation session will also discuss the nominations of former Peshawar High Court justices Qaisar Rashid and Rooh-ul-Amin.

Six of the nine panel members urged swift appointments to fill two Supreme Court seats in the previous session.

Moreover, The respected Sindh High Court Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh unanimously withdrew from consideration, according to sources.

While, The consensus candidate is PHC Chief Justice Hilali. The big meeting will reveal her appointment decision.

However, Supreme Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial’s nomination of two more candidates has enlivened the proceedings.

The commission is excited and curious about these names.

Chief Justice Hilali would become the first Khyber Pakhtunkhwa female Supreme Court judge if her nomination passes the commission.

Moreover, Her selection will boost Pakistan’s supreme court’s female representation and pride the province.

Justice Ayesha Malik was the first female Supreme Court judge, paving the way for others.

The nation eagerly awaits the commission’s verdict, which might change the judicial landscape and gender equality in the country’s top court.
