Karachi: The tropical cyclone Biparjoy is coming closer to the coast. The PMD said that it will rain with thunder and a strong dust storm in Karachi this afternoon or evening.
The latest prediction says that the weather will stay partly cloudy, hot, and humid. The wind speed in the port city is 25 kilometers per hour right now, but it could go over 40kmph.
Karachi’s air has a humidity level of 69%, and the highest temperature expected to reach between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius.
The new forecast calls the cyclone in the Arabian Sea a very severe cyclonic storm (VSCS). Its called Biparjoy, which means “disaster” in Bengali.
It has moved nearly north in the last six hours and is now near latitude 21.9°N and longitude 66.3°E, about 340 km south-southwest of Karachi, 355 km south-southwest of Thatta, and 275 km south-southwest of Keti Bandar.
Moreover, The cyclone is likely to hit land between Mandvi in the Indian state of Gujarat and Karachi on Thursday evening as VSCS.
While, From June 14 to 17, the Met Office said that the Biparjoy could bring heavy rain to Thatta, Sujawal, Badin, Tharparker, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, and Karachi.
“There is a chance of rain along the coast of Sindh. “The cyclone will hit on June 15, and its effects will last until June 17,” Sindh Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfaraz said.
Moreover, The top meteorologist said that after the cyclone ends, the weather in Karachi will go back to “normal,” and a sea breeze will blow through the city.
