Islamabad: “The hydra-headed monster of terrorism and extremism must fought with all our strength and conviction, whether it comes from individuals, groups, or states,” the prime minister said.

“There should never be a chance that [terrorism] could be used to score political points. Terrorism in all its forms and ways, including state terrorism, must condemned in clear and straightforward terms.

PM Shehbaz said that killing innocent people could never be okay, no matter what the reason or excuse.

“In the same way, religious minorities should never made to look bad in order to advance political goals at home,” he said.

PM Shehbaz said that Pakistan had made a lot of efforts to fight terrorism. He also said that militancy is a big problem in the region and a big obstacle to peace.

Moreover, SCO countries must take coordinated and immediate action […] against terrorism, extremism, and separatism,” the prime minister said, adding that it was the duty of all member states.

“CPEC changes the game for the region”

The prime minister started by thanking India for running the regional organisation this year.

PM Shehbaz said that Pakistan has a special position in central Asia because of where it is.

The prime minister talked about how important the multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is by saying that the relationship between the two countries can be a “game changer” for the whole area.

He told the people at the meeting that Pakistan is making special economic zones as part of the CPEC.

Afghanistan and Terrorism

During his speech, the prime minister also talked about Afghanistan.

“The international community is at a standstill on Afghanistan,” the PM said. He urged everyone to keep helping the war-torn country to avoid a humanitarian crisis.

Afghanistan wasn’t getting the “critical support” it needed. The situation needed to looked at again.

The SCO should work together to fight terrorists

Earlier, in his speech, Indian PM Modi said that the SCO should work together to fight terrorism and not afraid to criticise countries that back it.

Modi also asked the leaders of a political and security group in Eurasia to help Afghanistan and give Kabul relief aid.

Modi told the virtual meeting of SCO leaders that Afghan land shouldn’t used to make the area around it less stable.

Some of the other countries at the meeting are Russia, China, and Pakistan.
