Islamabad: Sharmila Faruqui of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) slammed Defence Minister Khawaja Asif for his rude comments about women lawmakers. She said, “Men have always allowed to get away with sexism and rude comments.”

During an emotional speech at a joint session of parliament on Tuesday, the defence minister called female senators “koora karkat (trash),” “garbage,” and “leftovers” of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

” The trash thats left behind, and it needs to be cleaned up. Asif had said that “immoral women shouldn’t teach about chastity,” which caused leaders and regular people to get very angry.

In an Instagram post, the member from the Sindh Assembly talked about how bad politics had become. She said that it was a failure of society as a whole. In the post, she showed a clip of Asif explaining in the National Assembly why his rude comments were wrong.

Faruqui said that women in politics work in a “sensitive environment” where they have to “face and bear a lot”. She also said that working in a male-dominated society was “easy,” but that it took a lot of “grit and nerves” from women to make it happen.

“In any job, women do better than their male counterparts who refuse to accept that fact,” the MPA said. She also said that it “makes her sad” when she hears a man talk badly about another woman.

The lawmaker also thinks that “there will never be a time” when she won’t have to use the “strongest of words” to reject such insults.

“Any man who talks badly about a woman is really talking badly about his own mother and daughter. “End of story,” the PPP MPA said.
