KHYBER: A gunman and hand grenade thrower attacked police at a checkpoint on Sunday.

The attacker fled while the police and Frontier Corps (FC) responded. The terror strike had no victims, thankfully.

In July alone, insurgent strikes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have increased.

At least four terror attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in 48 hours, including one in Peshawar thats foiled.

On July 20, a terrorist blew himself up when the police intercepted him. His accomplice while entering the Bara tehsil compound, which houses the Bara Police Station, government offices, and a CTD cell. One policeman killed and 10 others injured.

Since the Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) ended its truce with Islamabad late last year, terrorist assaults, including suicide bombs, have increased in the province.

Pakistan has warned Afghanistan against harbouring the banned TTP, a terrorist group that targets security personnel, due to increased militancy.

Pakistan’s security threatened by the TTP’s sanctuaries and freedom of action in Afghanistan, according to the Pakistan Army’s top brass.

Pakistan has seen a rise in terrorist assaults since the Afghan Taliban returned to power in August 2021 and urged on the interim rulers to take serious action against terrorists, especially the TTP, responsible for cross-border attacks.

The independent research tank Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS) reported a 79% increase in terrorism in the first half of 2023.

KP interim Information Minister Feroz Jamal claimed on Geo News’ morning broadcast that the police can handle increased terrorist activity but only the Afghan government’s efforts could reduce militancy.

Pakistan will be peaceful if Afghanistan is. The information minister said Afghanistan should punish cross-border terrorists.
