ISLAMABAD: A five-member JIT constituted to investigate the case of a 14-year-old domestic worker. Child abused and tortured by the wife of Civil Judge Asim Hafeez.
This month, a teenage girl working as a domestic help at the civil judge’s home hospitalised with serious injuries. Her parents accused the judge’s wife of torturing their child.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) granted protective bail to the suspect identified by the victim’s parents, and the victim’s condition has improved after deteriorating to a critical level.
The Islamabad Operations DIG will constitute the JIT investigating the case. ISI, IB, CTD, and Islamabad police SSP investigators are also members.
The Police Lines Headquarters JIT will investigate.

Moreover, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the National Assembly’s Committee for Human Rights demanded transparent investigations and action.
Case Background
The 14-year-old victim currently under treatment at Lahore’s General Hospital for multiple internal ailments, psychological disorders, and physical injuries caused by claimed torture.
The girl hospitalised with rib and upper-limb fractures, severe skin and eye infection, and “infested with maggots” head injuries.
After hospitalisation, she acquired pneumonia, sepsis, and lung infections due to long-term trauma.
On July 25, the Hummak Police Station charged Civil Judge Hafeez’s wife under PPC sections 506, 342, and 328.
After receiving a medico-legal report on the injuries, the police added eight sections and sub-parts to the FIR.
The civil judge disputed all claims against his wife, Somia, stating she was rigorous with the home help but “never tortured” her. “Brutal media trial” of Somia was also lamented.
