Webdesk: Indian woman Anju, now known as Fatima, made news at home and abroad when she went to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and married an Upper Dir man named Nasrullah. On Tuesday, Pakistani officials gave her a one-year visa extension.
Anju, 35 years old, married her Pakistani friend Nasrullah after she changed from Hinduism to Islam because she loved him. Last month, the couple got married in a neighbourhood court in front of a district and sessions judge.
The Indian girl came to Pakistan on July 22 through the Wagah border, where Nasrullah met her. She could stay here for up to a month because her visa was still good.
Nasrullah said in a statement that the Interior Ministry had given her a one-year extension on her visa. He also said that her visa had extended for two months before.
Nasrullah also said that they had given the Interior Ministry all relevant papers and that all Pakistani departments and institutions were working with them.
Anju got gifts for becoming a Muslim.
As a thank-you for converting to Islam, Anju got a piece of land and other gifts last month.
Mohsin Khan Abbasi, the CEO of a real estate business in KP, gave Anju the gifts, which included Rs50,000 and 10 marla of land for building a house. Anju now goes by the name Fatima because she converted to Islam.
A film of Abbasi going to see Anju and Nasrullah at their home has been shared on social media.
In the video, he said that he gave Anju the gifts so that she would feel at home in Pakistan.
