ISLAMABAD: After an alleged “coded conversation” between a jail official and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Attock Jail will conduct a security assessment of all personnel.
The sources told the correspondent that the jail official’s tape of Khan’s discussion contained language the government doesn’t comprehend.
The Special Branch and other institutions would receive more than 150 Attock jail personnel biodata for security clearance.
Moreover, Security clearance reports on Attock jail personnel’ extremist affiliation and other activities, including political party affiliation, must be compiled quickly.
After geofencing, correctional employees cannot use WhatsApp, sources stated.
The 1906 jail holds over 1,000 inmates. The jail has over 700 inmates with C-class amenities.
According to sources, transferring over 100 detainees to Adiala and other facilities is also being considered due to security concerns.
Islamabad’s Toshakhana court sentenced Khan to three years in prison.
The PTI chairman told his lawyer on Monday that flies and insects were taking over his cell during the day and night.
The party has requested his transfer to Adiala and A-Class facilities from the Islamabad High Court.
