The PDM gave the PM the authority to choose an interim premier. PPP’s Kundi

Islamabad: After the unexpected appointment of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar as caretaker prime minister, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Faisal Karim Kundi revealed on Saturday that all the allied and Pakistan Democratic Movement parties had given Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif the power to choose.

Senator Kakar became caretaker prime minister today. After the second round of consultation, PM Shehbaz Sharif and departing National Assembly Leader Raja Riaz agreed on Kakar for the role. President Arif Alvi authorised a summary under Article 224 1A.

Kundi said PPP didn’t object to Kakar’s name. He insisted that the caretaker prime minister-designate is not a politician.

The PPP representative said that the KP caretaker administration was behaving like an elected government. Transfer and posting were not its responsibility.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Haji Ghulam Ali accepted 25 interim cabinet members’ resignations a day earlier, following interim Chief Minister Azam Khan’s orders.

After receiving an ECP letter about politically affiliated cabinet members, the interim provincial chief executive urged his cabinet members to quit.

The electoral body ordered the KP caretaker CM to promptly “de-notify” “political” ministries, advisers, and special aides last month.

The PPP leader said that the linked parties sought elections 90 days following the dissolution of the National Assembly.

After PM Shehbaz provided the report, President Dr. Arif Alvi approved the premature dissolution of the National Assembly on August 9.

“The president dissolved the National Assembly on the advice of the prime minister under Article 58-1 of the Constitution”. The President’s Office said late Wednesday on X, formerly Twitter.

Moreover, He advised political parties to swiftly enter the polls. The PPP leader also questioned the government’s haste in clearing measures from assemblies days before its constitutional mandate ended.
