Webdesk: A buddy of Pakistani porter Mohammad Hassan, who died at K2 last month, criticised mountaineers for ignoring him and leaving him to die.

Basharat Hussain branded their actions “below humanity”.

Social media showed a group of climbers passing Hassan. Who fell over a ledge and died a few hours later at the bottleneck, 8,200 metres high.

“The climbers, who scaled the K2 this year, I understand their behaviour was below humanity. It was very saddening,” Hussain remarked.

This is my most dehumanising experience. I pray it never happens again.

Gilgit Baltistan (GB) government formed an investigating commission to probe the untimely death of Pakistani high-altitude porter.

Moreover, According to an announcement, the GB secretary tourism, sports, archaeology, and museum department constituted the committee, led by director Iqbal Hussain.

The committee also includes deputy director Baltistan Rahat Karim Baig, divisional and district administration, Baltistan tour operators association, and Alpine Club of Pakistan officials.

While, Norwegian mountaineer Kristin Harila rejected the claim and stated her team tried everything to save Hassan.

“It’s a horrible accident… a father, son, and spouse died on K2. “It’s sad,” she said.

We tried for hours to save him, but it’s a tiny path.

How will you climb, traverse, and transport someone? No way.”
