Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah and Rana Ansar, who was the leader of the opposition in the now-disbanded Sindh Assembly, will agree on a choice for interim head of government by midnight, Monday’s provincial leader said.
Today, CM Murad and Ansar will meet for the third time to talk about the names of the offered candidates and choose one of them to run the caretaker government in the province, which has been needed since the Sindh Assembly was dissolved on August 11.
The law says that a choice has to be made within three days of the assembly being dissolved. So today is the third and last day for the two leaders to talk about the issue.
Today, Ansar will go back to the CM House for the meeting, and each side will put forward three people.
CM Murad said that 12–13 names from both sides thought about.
“All the names are good and well-known. “By midnight tonight, everyone will agree on something,” he said.
The chief minister also said that a third party won’t come up with a name for the temporary CM, and that one of the names being thought about will be chosen.
In a day or two, the acting chief minister will take over, he said.
It’s important to note that the ruling PPP had talked about Justice (ret.) Maqbool Baqir and former Sindh chief secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah for the position, while the opposition had talked about Dr. Safdar Abbasi, Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi, Shoaib Siddiqui, and Younus Dagha for the position.
