ISLAMABAD: The UAE has praised Pakistan’s Jaranwala response, The News reported Monday.

Over the weekend, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) urged “respect religious symbols and avoid incitement and polarisation”. Country called on the international community to “reaffirm a commitment to upholding the universal principles of tolerance and peaceful coexistence” to achieve stability and sustainable development.

The ministry “strongly condemned” Pakistani militants’ burning of churches and dozens of homes and criticised the bloodshed.

After accusing certain Christian community members of blasphemy, a mob burned several churches and scores of residences last week.

The local authorities called in paramilitary personnel to clear dozens of individuals blocking a neighbouring highway.

The UAE MoFA praised the Pakistani government’s efforts and measures to combat these crimes.

The ministry stressed that hate speech and extremism undermine international efforts to promote tolerance. As well as coexistence, and peace, and the UAE rejects all practises that undermine security and stability.

The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government would not rest until “those responsible for the vile acts in Jaranwala were apprehended and brought to justice”.

On Sunday, spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch responded to media inquiries about several governments’ comments on the August 16 Jaranwala violence: “We repeat what we have said. The Faisalabad event is disgusting and has devastated Pakistani Christians.

Moreover, The incident strongly denounced by Pakistan’s authorities and society. Such intolerance and violence are incompatible with Pakistani culture.”

The wheels of justice have turned. The tragedy also revived a Pakistani interfaith conversation of tolerance and respect “said.
