Lahore: The PDMA warned of a dangerous rise in water levels if India releases additional water after heavy monsoon rains.

The water inflow may harm Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, Multan, and Bahawalpur, according to a PDMA spokeswoman.

“The villages near River Sutlej may have to evacuated. All the authorities concerned are on high alert,” said Punjab’s Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed, citing Indian dam worries.

The PDMA reported that Islam Headworks has 151,000 cusecs of water input. While, Ganda Singh Wala has a high-level flood, and Sulemanki has a medium-level flood.

The spokeswoman said the PDMA control room monitored all rivers, dams, barrages, and streams.

Moreover, The Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) reports high flood levels at Ganda Singh Wala Headworks and Islam Headworks and medium flood levels at Sulemanki Headworks.

While, The forecast predicted low Indus flood levels at Kalabagh, Chashma, and Guddu headworks.

It also predicted scattered wind thunderstorms/rain of moderate intensity with isolated heavy falls over the upper catchments of all major rivers in 24 hours.

Moreover, Punjab’s Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the River Sutlej relief camp in Attari Village, Okara.

“107 villages in Sahiwal Division flooded. Only 16,000 of 82,000 evacuated to Attari camp. 36,000 animals saved. Caretaker CM Naqvi: 40 boats, 11 Sahiwal relief camps.

Certainly, Rescue teams and district admin tirelessly evacuate flood-affected neighbourhoods. Pak Army, thanks for medical aid and relief efforts “said.
