Imran Khan intended ‘revolution against army’: Pervez Khattak

Peshawar: In his latest volley at his erstwhile political boss, Imran Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P) president Pervez Khattak accused Khan of plotting a “revolution” against the Pakistan Army on Saturday.

PTI-P Chairman Khattak addressed journalists. The meeting included Mahmood Khan, the newly founded political party’s vice chairman and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister.

Khattak, who founded his new political party this month, accused Khan of opposing the 18th Amendment.

Khattak lost his basic party membership on July 12 after failing to respond to a “show cause notice” from the PTI. The notification delivered for asking PTI staff to leave.

Few days later, he launched PTI-P.

The former defence minister said, “Azam Khan [former principal secretary] ran the government and the rest used to help him.”

Khattak remarked, “PTI may banned.” referring to May 9 protests and military station attacks.

The former prime minister’s arrest in the £190 million settlement case sparked nationwide rioting on May 9. Hundreds of PTI workers and leaders imprisoned for violence and military installations.

Miscreants attacked Jinnah House and Rawalpindi’s GHQ during protests. The military declared May 9 “Black Day” and tried demonstrators under the Army Act.

Khattak replied that the establishment had produced an election scenario but Khan disagreed.

In contrast to Khan’s accusations, the ex-defence minister claimed, “Gen Bajwa supported us [PTI] a lot.”

The former army chief withdrew his support because the Khan-led had failed, he claimed.

To another question, PTI-P leader remarked, “I see elections in February, 2024.”
