Ceasefire with Russia to take effect immediately after U.S. announcement, says Ukrainian President Zelensky

Riyadh, Washington, Kyiv (International News): Russia and Ukraine have agreed to ensure safe maritime navigation in the Black Sea and refrain from attacking each other’s energy infrastructure.

According to international news agencies, the United States has been actively working to mediate an end to the Russia-Ukraine war, and significant progress has been made in this regard. The White House confirmed that the U.S. facilitated separate agreements with both Ukraine and Russia during negotiations in Riyadh. Following these agreements, both nations consented to measures aimed at securing maritime trade in the Black Sea and protecting vital energy installations from hostilities.

As part of the diplomatic efforts, the United States has also pledged to assist Russia in regaining access to global markets for its agricultural and fertilizer exports. The White House stated that the U.S. remains committed to facilitating dialogue between the conflicting parties to achieve a sustainable peace.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the ceasefire agreement, stating that Russia and Ukraine have reached an understanding regarding hostilities in the Black Sea. He further remarked that significant progress has been made on the Ukraine issue and that efforts are also advancing in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, responding to the negotiations in Saudi Arabia, confirmed that the U.S. and Ukraine had agreed that an immediate maritime ceasefire could be implemented under the supervision of a third-party monitor. He stated that the ceasefire with Russia would come into effect immediately following the U.S. announcement, though Moscow has yet to issue an official clarification on the agreement.

President Zelensky warned that if Russia violates the ceasefire, Ukraine would demand weapons from Trump and call for additional sanctions against Moscow.
