Iran Responds to Trump’s Letter: Open to Indirect Talks with the U.S.

Tehran (International News): Iran has responded to a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump regarding negotiations on the nuclear deal, expressing its willingness to engage in indirect discussions with the U.S. over its nuclear program.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi informed the state news agency that Iran’s official response includes a letter outlining its stance on the current situation and Trump’s proposal. He further stated that the letter was handed over to Oman, which is acting as a mediator in this matter.

Araghchi reiterated that, as in the past, indirect negotiations with the U.S. remain a possibility. President Trump had sent a letter to Iran on March 12, but its contents were not officially disclosed.

Trump had remarked that there were two ways to deal with Iran—military action or a negotiated agreement. “I prefer making a deal because I do not wish to harm Iran. They are very good people,” he had stated.

Iran initially did not respond to the letter immediately. However, it has now officially replied to Trump’s proposal for nuclear negotiations. It is worth noting that Trump’s letter to senior Iranian officials had given Iran a two-month deadline to agree to a new nuclear deal.
