The capital of Pakistan, Islamabad, known for its beautiful architecture, greenery, and moderate weather, is experiencing an unusual heatwave this April. This year, the temperature has been recorded at least 10 degrees Celsius higher than usual, with predictions for the coming week showing temperatures between 35 to 37 degrees Celsius.
In recent years, mild rains during this period would typically bring a cool breeze, but this year, the absence of rain and the unexpected rise in temperature have left the residents uneasy. Typically, Islamabad and surrounding areas would enjoy moderate weather, but now the heat is becoming more intense.
According to Zahid Babar, Director of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, March and April usually mark a transitional period in the country when winter fades and mild warmth sets in. However, due to environmental changes, like the heatwave in 2020, this weather pattern has now become common.
This year, the average temperature in Islamabad has been 31°C, and it is expected that with rains in the Pothohar region, there will be a slight change in the weather soon.
