The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has intensified its screening process at Lahore Airport and taken action against 82 suspected travelers involved in begging. 76 of them have been handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle.
According to an FIA spokesperson, the screening process at Lahore Airport has been made stricter, and actions were taken against 82 passengers involved in begging this year. Out of these, 76 were handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle, while six passengers suspected of begging were offloaded and sent back home.
The spokesperson further revealed that most of the arrested suspects had been deported from various countries, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and other Arab nations. They had traveled on visas for pilgrimage and Umrah but started begging once they arrived.
The FIA spokesperson added that the crackdown was carried out on the directive of senior authorities, and the screening of passengers will continue to prevent such illegal activities.
