LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued a statement clarifying that a letter requesting VIP passes for judges and their families for the Pakistan Super League’s (PSL) opening ceremony was a misunderstanding and has been withdrawn. The letter, which was written by the Assistant Registrar Protocol on behalf of the senior additional registrar of the LHC, went viral on social media and sparked public criticism. The tournament is set to begin on February 13th in Multan.
In the statement, the LHC spokesperson said that the letter was immediately withdrawn as soon as the matter came to the senior additional registrar’s attention. The letter, which was dated February 7, 2023, asked the stadium manager to provide a chairman’s box, 30 VIP passes, and red vehicle stickers for the PSL opening ceremony and 25 VIP passes for each subsequent match.
A subsequent letter, written on February 8, informed the stadium manager that the previous letter was issued inadvertently and that no action was required. The LHC emphasized that the matter was a misunderstanding and has been withdrawn.
