Maryam Nawaz, the senior vice president of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), fired back at PTI chairman Imran Khan on Saturday after he accused the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) of “running away from elections” by targeting Supreme Court judges.
On Twitter, the former prime minister stated, “Shameless & calculated attacks on SC judges by PDM & spoilt brat Maryam, nurtured on corruption money, have only one purpose – to avoid elections by violating the Constitution.”
The ousted prime minister also uploaded a video compilation of the leaders of the ruling coalition, stating, “PDM leadership seen urging us to dissolve the K-P and Punjab assembly if we want elections! Now, when faced, they fear elections because they know they will be wiped out.”
In response to his tirade, the head of the ruling PML-N cited the current cases against Imran, notably Toshakhana, and stated that he is the first former prime minister in the country’s history to be “guilty of all forms of corruption.”
“Your ‘chor daku’ [thief and dacoit] narrative has not only fallen flat on its face, but from being caught red-handed stealing £190m (Rs58b), to your wife’s jewellery and Tosha Khana heist, to signing files for a 5-carat diamond ring, you are the first ever prime minister to be guilty of all forms of corruption,” she wrote on her official Twitter account.
In another tweet, Maryam stated that the PTI leader’s attempts to evade courts and ask for adjournments “are an egregious admission of guilt. Plastered leg will not save you anymore. “Be a man and face the law!”
