ISLAMABAD: On Thursday, a court in Islamabad denied Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s request to stop the arrest warrants in the Toshakhana case that could not be released on bail.

Extra Sessions and Districts Judge Zafar Iqbal announced the verdict. He had already decided on. He told the relevant authorities to arrest the former prime minister and bring him back to court on March 18.

Judge said we looked at every part of the law that and decided this. He hoped the petitioners would enjoy reading the detailed verdict.

Tuesday, the party asked the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to stop Khan’s non-bailable arrest warrants in the Toshakhana case. The high court told Khan’s lawyer to go to the trial court. Court said that the order for IK’s arrest was “in line with the law.”

At today’s hearing, the additional district and sessions judge was in charge. Khan’s lawyer gave the court two options: either suspend the arrest warrants or issue arrest warrants with bail.

The situation at Khan’s Zaman Park home seems to be calm right now. But when the hearing started again today, the court made it clear that it hasn’t stopped the police from carrying out the arrest warrants. It also asked PTI to solve the problem.

PTI workers and police fought for almost 24 hours, turning Zaman Park into a battleground. The police were trying to get through Khan’s supporters and arrest him.

During the process, a lot of people including police officers and PTI workers sustained injuries, because the police used tear gas and party supporters threw Molotov cocktails.

Khan has been in court since early last year, when he was kicked out of office by a vote in parliament. Since then, he has held protests across the country calling for a quick election. During one of these events, he was shot and hurt.
