LAHORE – Friday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) gave former Prime Minister Imran Khan protective bail in a number of cases against him.
A two-member bench made up of Justice Tariq Saleem Sheikh and Justice Farooq Haider did the decision. The PTI leader had gone to court to ask for bail in nine cases.
The bench gave the defiant politician bail in 8 cases. But Toshakhana’s request for protective bail didn’t work because the Islamabad High Court (IHC) stopped arrest warrants for him until tomorrow.
During the hearing, Justice Sheikh said that the case was handled from Imran Khan’s side. He was talking about the fights in Zaman Park. He also said that this kind of thing should not happen by following business rules.
Imran Khan once said that 94 cases had been filed against him.
Earlier, the PTI leader and a large group of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf supporters went to the high court, even though the government had taken strict security measures.
will listen to bail requests for cases that have been filed under terrorism sections.
The Punjab government and PTI came to an agreement this morning to solve the Zaman Park crisis. Both agreed to reschedule PTI’s Mina-e-Pakistan rally. The agreement says that PTI will work with police to carry out arrest and search warrants. SSP Imran Kishore will be the point person for the police. Shibli Faraz and Ali Khan will speak for their party.
The Lahore High Court told the two sides to come to an agreement by 3 p.m.
This week, Khan’s supporters and the security forces fought for almost two days in Zaman Park because Islamabad Police were trying to arrest him.
