Islamabad/ Lahore: On Saturday (today), a district and sessions court in Islamabad will continue hearing the Toshakhana case. This case is against former prime minister Imran Khan. Former Premier evaded arrest even though police tried for a long time to catch him.

The leader of the PTI will appear in the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Zafar Iqbal. He will be there to hear about the ECP complaint that he hid information about gifts in his assets declarations.

The PTI leader has left his home in Zaman Park, Lahore. According to the party, a group of party workers is in tow with Imran Khan, on their way to Islamabad.

Security situation in Capital

Outside the G-11 courthouse in Islamabad, police took strict security measures. A large group of police officers is on duty to the area to keep things safe.

Moreover, On Friday night, the government of Islamabad imposed Section 144. This makes it illegal for private companies, security guards, or individuals to carry weapons in the capital. Drivers must have the registration papers for their cars with them at all times.

In a tweet, the capital police said people shouldn’t go to the G-11 and G-10 areas unless they have to.

“The chief commissioner of Islamabad has told people to work with the authorities. He requested not move around unless they have to so that the traffic plan can be carried out smoothly.”

In a tweet by Asad Umer, he questioned the government’s intentions and asked what illegal action they had planned for the day.

After the PTI raised safety concerns, the government moved the hearing of the case from the additional sessions court to the Judicial Complex, which is a safer place.

At Imran’s last hearing on Thursday, he asked the court to stop the non-bailable arrest warrants that had been issued for him.

Moreover, The order came from Additional District and Sessions (ADSJ) Judge Zafar Iqbal, who was hearing the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) case against former prime minister Imran Khan for hiding information about Toshakhana gifts. The ECP wanted criminal charges to be brought against Khan for hiding information about the gifts.

But on Friday, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) cancelled Imran’s non-bailable arrest warrants, giving him a chance to go before the trial court on Saturday (today).

During yesterday’s hearing, Imran’s attorney, Khawaja Haris, gave the court a promise from his client that the PTI leader would be in court on March 18.

Zafar Iqbal, who is an Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ), will run the hearing.
