LAHORE: India has said that it wants to make things normal between it and Pakistan, including trade ties that can help both countries’ economies.

At an event put on by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) on Friday, Indian Deputy High Commissioner Suresh Kumar called for better relations between the nuclear neighbours.

On August 5, 2019, India took away Kashmir’s special status, which made things worse between the two countries.

The Indian envoy at the event said, “We will always want better relations with Pakistan because we can’t change geography.”

“The two countries have always lived close to each other. It would be better to look at how our problems and situations can be changed. We want things to get back to normal.”

Kumar also said that improving communication would be good for both countries. He said that India had never stopped trade between the two countries, but that Pakistan had. He also said that trade was still going on, but it wasn’t as much as it could be.

He said that India also wanted to get into Central Asia because it was a big market. He said that the startup sector in India is booming and that Pakistan can do the same.

“No one can deny that geoeconomics is important. We need to work on it right away,” reports said he said.
