Peshawar: At least eight people were killed near Havelian, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Monday, including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) District Chairman Atif Jadoon Khan. The attackers used rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) to hit their vehicle.
The attackers waited for Jadoon’s car near Langra in Abbottabad District. He and seven other people were on their way home from a nearby village where they had given fateha.
Officials with the police said that the incident seemed to have something to do with an old grudge.
Sources with knowledge of the situation said that the RPGs were fired at the vehicle, which then caught on fire.
As soon as they heard about it, the police and rescue workers rushed to the scene of the crime. They moved the bodies to the hospital to go through the proper legal procedures.
It is important to note that Jadoon joined the Imran Khan-led PTI after he won the election as an independent candidate.
The police, on the other hand, said that the PTI leader was killed in a shooting, which was different from what the sources said.
