Webdesk: Many Twitter users, including actors Farhan Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui, have called out Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Dr. Afnan Ullah Khan for his “misogynistic” remarks against ace actor Mahira Khan and renowned satirist Anwar Maqsood.
Afterward, PML-N lawmaker insulted the Hamsafar actress after supporting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan at an Arts Council of Pakistan event in Karachi on Sunday.
While, Maqsood asked Mahira whose political party she supported.
“You like the film?” Maqsood asked.
“Mae pathaan ki tarf hun [I side with pathaan],” Mahira remarked after another silence.
Afterward, Dr. Afnan criticised Mahira and the host on Twitter after this statement.
“Mahira Khan has mental health issues and Anwar Maqsood is drunk at this stage,” the senator tweeted. Publicly reviled are these scumbags. Mahira Khan’s character might inspire books. She flatters Indian actors for cash.
While, Twitterati slammed the senator for assaulting two of Pakistan’s biggest personalities and thinkers when his tweet went viral.
Farhan Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui have condemned the attack.
Moreover, Farhan was outraged, tweeting: “This is the mentality that doesn’t let #Pakistan grow, this is what they do when someone just gives an opinion or has a political preference. People stop commenting when they get personal. Senator? Zuban jahilon.
Afterward, another wrote, “Such disgraceful behaviour from a public figure is unacceptable,” wrote actor Adnan Siddiqui. His disregard for Anwar Maqsood sahib and Mahira Khan, revered worldwide, is a reflection of his character, not the idols he insulted.”
