Webdesk: Sheheryar Munawar Siddiqui addressed the viral footage of him caressing Indian actor Nawazuddin’s feet at the Dubai Filmfare Awards.
During The Talk Talk Show, the Parey Hut Love star was questioned about his gesture towards the musician from across the border amid sociopolitical tension and reaction. Choudary compared it to Fahad Mustafa touching Govinda’s feet at another event.
“There’s a video, you must have seen it,” Sheheryar laughed. “It’s unfair that your personal life is put on stage. I did nothing onstage. No duties. We joked. Mahira jee, Nawazuddin sahab, and I were present, therefore it was a joke. As friends, I told him I was a tremendous fan, which is true. Since Gangs of Wasseypur, I am.”
Sheheryar continued, “Mahira was pulling my leg, saying that I should touch guru jee’s feet and I said, ‘Sure – what’s the big deal, I’ll do it.’ A makeup artist snapped that bit, clipping everything else out—like when you and I exclaim, “Oh, sir!” That moment was captured, edited, and posted.”
Hasan added that the Ho Mann Jahaan star is Sindhi and part of Sindhi history. As a second portion, Sheheryar said, “If it were the case, I wouldn’t be ashamed of it, because I’m Sindhi, and we respect those from whom we learn. I guess this is my thousands-year-old culture. That’s fine.”
The actor then jokes about removing a photo of him with Deepika Padukone because his “angle wasn’t right.”
