Islamabad: On Wednesday, the Islamabad Police said they had arrested 316 PTI supporters for attacking police officers. Causing chaos outside the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) on March 18. It happened when PTI Chairman Imran Khan appeared there for a court hearing.
After the former prime minister arrived at the FJC for a Toshakhana hearing on Saturday. PTI workers and capital police clashed for hours.
Law enforcement and PTI supporters clashed with teargas and anti-riot gear. The PTI used rocks and petrol bombs to burn police vehicles.
Imran and over a dozen PTI leaders also charged with terrorism by the Islamabad Police.
The police tweeted today that PTI supporters committed “incitement, arson, vandalism [and] attacks on police”.
It added that police were raiding for more arrests and using cameras to identify all suspects
If found guilty, the Islamabad police will prosecute government officials, company employees, and immigrants for Saturday’s chaos.
The capital police said they were alerting “relevant departments so that departmental action could be taken” if government officials were involved in “violent actions.”
It also identified social media-active civil servants involved in “inciting actions” for departmental action.
Islamabad police said they would notify private companies and organisations of employees’ “terrorist activities.”
“These immigrants’ foreign embassies are receiving letters. “Facilitators financially supporting these violent protests also prosecuted,” the police added.
“58 police officials were injured during the violent vandalism while 12 cars, 20 motorcycles and a police chowki (checkpost) were set on fire,” it said.
