Islamabad: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif and Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb did a conference for international journalists.
Pakistan is currently coping with many political and economic challenges at the time of this discussion.
Asif began his news conference by criticizing the “hypocrisy” of Imran Khan. He said, “His political career began with a coded message. In which he accused the United States of working against the PTI administration.
“Today, Shireen Mazari wrote a letter to the United States on his behalf […] the country he once accused of conspiracy… “He is now seeking assistance from them,” he explained.
Asif asserted that the succession of events that have transpired since the vote of no-confidence “shows the complete sum of Imran’s trip. His removal from the government and his current SOS to the United States for assistance.”
Asif added, in reference to the events of the past few weeks, specifically the ex-prime minister’s presence at the Federal Court Complex on March 18. That nowhere in the world had he ever observed an accused refusing to appear in court.
“And when he appears before the court, his presence is recorded while he waits in his car, while his fans intimidate and throng the courts […] they (the courts) face pressure and threats.”
On the other hand, he said, when police dispatched to Imran’s home to make arrests. Officials were attacked with slingshots, petrol bombs, stones, and sticks.
This has never occurred before in Pakistan. Even under Imran’s administration, as well as in the past, opposition leaders detained and surrendered with dignity.
“Whatever victimization occurred, they never violently resisted their detention and never mistreated or slandered the courts,” the minister said.
