Bilal Maqsood on why Strings split: “We never wanted to hog space as senior artists.”

Webdesk: Bilal Maqsood explained why he and Faisal Kapadia split after 33 years. Strings always wanted to break up at its “peak” rather than as a plodding, dying band, the vocalist said two years after the band separated.

Maqsood posted an Instagram video on Saturday saying that Kapadia and him only sought respect for their band. “Exactly two years after the popular band Strings ended their 33-year journey, I wanted to explain why. “Can’t thank you enough for being a part of our journey and making it truly unforgettable!” he wrote.

Maqsood began the three-minute clip by saying that the main singers were happy about their decision, yet upset. Strings split two years ago today, March 25. Two years were eventful. “Faisal has his own journey and I have mine, but you all should know that after ending Strings, we were a little upset but a lot happier about our decision,” he stated.

Maqsood stated they left at their prime because of the respect they received. “Respect for Strings was our top priority, and we had always discussed that we would end Strings at its peak and never at a slow point where people had to ask us to leave. God kept us current with each new record. Sajni and Urr Jaun were huge hits on Strings 30, too.”

He noted that he and Kapadia did not want to maintain their seats and assume seniority in a booming sector. “In sports and music, senior people are in denial that they’re on top and should be respected because they’re senior, and Strings never wanted to get to that. “Lockdown allowed us to finish the band before that,” he said.

“Things were stagnant, there was barely any work, any concerts and that’s when we decided that it was the best time to end Strings so people remember the band with respect and not thank God that we finally left. We appreciate the fantastic journey. 6 studio albums, four years of Coke Studio, countless concerts, and several endorsements made us international travelers and brand ambassadors. We still have fun!” He beamed.

Maqsood wished his old bandmate well in his music career. Strings’ absence is wonderful because it was a huge duty. New adventures await us. I wish Faisal well in music and family. I hope he stays happy and does music.”

Finally, he thanked Strings fans for their support. “The 33 years that Strings had was all because of our fans, their love and their support or we wouldn’t even last two years,” he added, inviting them to watch for his new work.

The legendary Pakistani band ended its musical career in 2021, heartbreaking fans. “Hi, folks. This post is unusual. We gladly terminate STRINGS today, 25/03/2021 “on Facebook.

“We’ve had 33 amazing years (Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood). We are grateful to our fans for making this happen. Hope you enjoyed it.”
