Webdesk: Priyanka Chopra described feeling “cornered” in Bollywood and almost leaving to work in the West. Kangana Ranaut accused Karan Johar of “banning” and “harassing” her.
Priyanka, who starred in Quantico and Baywatch in Hollywood, told Dax Shepard that Bollywood elites forced her into a corner. “The industry cornered me (Bollywood). “I had people not casting me, I had beef with people, I am not good at playing that game so I kind of was tired of the politics and I said I needed a break,” she stated.
When coping with clear discrimination, her manager Anjula Acharia suggested she pursue a music career in the US, and the rest is history! “This music thing gave me an opportunity to go into another part of the world, not crave for the movies” she said, explaining how “desperate” she was to leave Bollywood. I didn’t want to grovel since I had worked so long.”
Kangana tweeted that Karan “bullied” Priyanka. Priyanka Chopra claims that Bollywood bullied and expelled her. India expelled a self-made woman. “Everyone knows Karan Johar banned her,” Kangana said.
She continued, “Media wrote extensively about her fallout with Karan Johar because of her friendship with Shah Rukh Khan and movie mafia Cruella who is always looking for vulnerable outsiders. They saw Priyanka Chopra as a punching bag and harassed her till she left India.”
The Manikarnika star asked Karan Johar “held accountable” for his bigotry.
“This obnoxious, jealous, mean, and toxic person should be held accountable for ruining the culture and environment of the film industry, which was never hostile to outsiders in the days of AB or SRK. “His gang and mafia PR should be raided and held accountable for harassing outsiders,” she concluded.
Kangana called Karan the “flag bearer of nepotism” on Koffee with Karan season 5.
History
Priyanka has spoken out against Bollywood violence before. The actor told The Ranveer Show last year that “certain people” sought to keep her out of the industry. “I have had people wanting to jeopardize my career, take away from my work, make sure I wasn’t cast just because I was doing well,” she said.
Priyanka stars in Citadel with Richard Madden. Amazon Video will webcast the performance on April 28. Jee Le Zara, directed by Farhan Akhtar and starring Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif, will mark her Bollywood return.
