Lahore: Imran Khan, said that it doesn’t matter if a five-member bench or a larger bench of the Supreme Court hears his party’s petition against the delay of elections in Punjab. All that matters to him is whether or not elections will be held in 90 days.
In a series of tweets on Thursday, Mr. Khan said, “Whether it’s a 5-member SC bench or a Full Bench, it doesn’t matter to us. All we want to know is if elections will be held within the 90-day constitutional provision.”
“Before we dissolved our two [provincial] assemblies, While, I talked to our top constitutional lawyers, and they all told me that the Constitution’s 90-day rule on holding elections was unbreakable,” the PTI leader wrote on Twitter.
Moreover, He said that the current government is “cherry-picking” the parts of the Constitution. Those that they want to use and is ready to destroy the Constitution to “whitewash their leaders.”
Afterward, He went on to say that by putting off the polls, the “imported government, their handlers, and a compromised ECP” were “making a complete joke of the Constitution.”
While, Khan said these things on the same day that the bench hearing the case was broken up. That is because one of the judges, Justice Aminuddin Khan, said he couldn’t hear it. Tomorrow, a new Supreme Court bench will look at the case (Friday).
