Islamabad: Imran Khan booked on Thursday in a case related to violence. Said violence broke out when police tried to arrest the former prime minister and fought with many PTI supporters.

On Tuesday, the Islamabad Police, the Punjab Police, and the Rangers began trying to catch the ex-prime minister. Police was trying to arrest him in connection with the Toshkhana case. On Wednesday morning, they picked up where they left off. Imran has missed his court dates more than once. So the judge gave him an arrest warrant that can’t be cancelled.

Workers from the PTI, on the other hand, fought back hard and threw stones at them. The police fired off rounds of tear gas in response.

After going back and forth for hours in what international media called “pitched battles”. The troops went back to Mall Road and then left.

In the meantime, Imran sent a short video message to his supporters. He told them to come out for real freedom because the police were trying to arrest him. “They think the country will go to sleep after my arrest, but you have to show them wrong,” he said.

The next day, in yet another video message, the PTI leader said, “I have no control over the crowd outside.” He also warned that if the police “attacks” keep going, “the matter will get out of everyone’s hands.”

In a new first information report (FIR) filed at the Race Course police station on Thursday, the former prime minister was charged under the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), which also has laws against rioting and other crimes.

The FIR says that PTI leaders and hundreds of workers did “grave crimes” at Imran’s request. The party chairman and his friends also charged with criminal conspiracy.

Other laws deal with illegal gatherings of armed people, ignoring court orders, getting in the way of justice, and hiding criminals.

The FIR also said that PTI workers caused problems for ordinary people, used petrol bombs, damaged state property, and hurt 63 police officers, including the DIG Islamabad.
