Imran Khan, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), is being charged with putting “families of army officers at risk”
The case against the former prime minister was filed on April 6 at the Ramna Police Station in Islamabad. Magistrate Manzoor Ahmed brought the case to court.
The FIR says that the PTI leader said “inappropriate things” about military officers in one of his speeches.
The FIR includes parts of the Pakistan Penal Code 500, 505, and 138. Section 500 is about slander, which can get you two years in prison or a fine.
While Section 505 deals with statements that could “cause or incite” a military officer to mutiny or cause fear or alarm in the public. Which could lead someone to commit a crime against the state.
On the other hand, if you help an officer, soldier, sailor, or airman do something disobedient. Moreover, You could go to jail for up to six months or pay a fine.
Since he was kicked out of office as prime minister in April of last year, the PTI chairman has been in court, and he says that the government has filed over 100 cases against him all over the country.
But the police told the Islamabad High Court that the PTI leader had 29 FIRs filed against him in the capital. Of these, 28 were filed by the police and one was filed by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
One of the FIRs had been closed, seven were being investigated, and 20 cases were already in court.
