ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif presides over a National Security Committee (NSC) meeting. It was to discuss the “ongoing situation” as the government ups the ante against the SC over the election verdict.
According to sources, the NSC is holding a meeting at the PM House. During the meeting current situation in the country will be discussed. The decisions regarding the government’s course of action expected.
While, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff committee (CJCSC), the commanders of the armed forces, federal ministers for defence, finance, and information, and senior military leadership are present at the meeting.
The nation is experiencing severe economic and political crises. Which exacerbated by the recent Supreme Court ruling. Moreover, Said ruling was on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) petition challenging the delay in elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab.
The ruling coalition has vehemently opposed the verdict, which it considers to be a minority verdict based on the vote count of 3-2 and should not be implemented.
