ISLAMABAD: The controversy over the Supreme Court’s decision on the Punjab elections took a new turn when Justice Athar Minallah wrote in his detailed order that the case was dismissed by a vote of 4 to 3 and said that “he had not recused himself nor had any reason to dissociate himself” from the case.
Justice Minallah said that he agreed with Justice Yahya Afridi’s note on dismissing the petition. He said that Afridi’s reasoning in the short order was “persuasive,” so he “did not hesitate to agree with the decision.”
“I had stated my decision again by putting a note in the order from February 24, 2023. I was able to read the detailed reasons that my learned brothers. Syed Mansoor Ali Shah and Jamal Khan Mandokhail, JJs, wrote down, and I agree with their opinion. This is especially true when it comes to the final outcome of the petitions. As well as the suo motu assumption of jurisdiction by a majority of 4 to 3. Because this is what was agreed upon at the meeting in the anteroom on February 27, 2023. “It should be noted that I did not recuse myself and had no reason to do so”. The judge wrote in a long note.
