Islamabad: The federal government proclaimed a five-day nationwide public holiday for Eidul Fitr, as reported by Express News.
According to the Ministry of the Interior, the holidays will commence on Friday. April 21 and end on Tuesday, April 25.
Earlier, the Ruet-e-Hilal Research Council (RHRC) predicted that Eidul Fitr likely observed across the nation on April 22 of this year.
Khalid Ijaz Mufti, the secretary-general of the council, announced that the committee will meet on Thursday. April 20, to observe the Shawwal moon.
If the crescent observed on Thursday evening, Eidul Fitr will be observed on April 21. However, he added that it was doubtful that the moon would be seen that evening.
He stated that Eid likely observed on April 22 following the completion of 30 days of Ramadan’s fasting.
The council estimates that the moon will be born on Thursday, April 20, at 9:13 a.m. Pakistan time. On the evening of the 29th of Ramadan, the moon should be older than 19 hours at sunset in order to be visible. However, in all regions of Pakistan, it will be less than 10 hours, according to the report.
The difference between sunset and moonset, which must be over 40 minutes, going to reduce to 21 minutes in Peshawar, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, Charsadda, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Quetta, and Jiwani, and to 20 minutes in Lahore and Karachi.
Muslims fast from dawn until dusk during the sacred month of Ramadan marked by Eidul Fitr. Typically, the holiday observed with prayers, family gatherings, and feasting.
The precise date of Eidul Fitr is determined by the sighting of the crescent moon, which signifies the start of the Islamic month of Shawwal.
