Mufti Abdul Shakoor, a federal minister, dies in a car crash.

ISLAMABAD: Mufti Abdul Shakoor, the federal minister for religious affairs and interfaith harmony, died in a car accident. Accident happened in the nation’s capital on Saturday, according to the Islamabad Police.

The incident happened when the federal minister was travelling from a nearby hotel to Secretariat Chowk about iftar (evening).

The minister was driving the vehicle personally, according to a statement from the capital’s police. It was that time when a Toyota Hilux Revo with five persons inside crashed into the driver’s side of it.

Moreover, The federal minister taken to Polyclinic Hospital in the federal capital. But the police claimed that due to serious internal bleeding, he died from his injuries.

Senior police officers have reportedly arrived at the crime site, and the occupants of the automobile that crashed into the federal minister’s car have been detained. Of the five males, two have wounds.

While, The hospital where Shakoor passed away also visited by the Islamabad Inspector-General Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, Minister for Information Marriyum Aurangzeb, and other federal ministers.

Moreover, Rana Sanaullah ordered police to make sure that a “complete investigation” carried out into the incident.

According to preliminary information, Mufti Shakoor’s death likely caused by a head injury. IG Khan of Islamabad told reporters outside the hospital.

A JUI-F official announced in a statement that Mufti Shakoor’s funeral prayer recited today (Sunday) at 2 pm at Lakki Marwat. He will be laid to rest there.

In the 2018 general elections, the religious scholar chosen to represent NA-51 as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) on the platform of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
