Lahore:
Well-placed sources say Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the PDM-led government are eager to negotiate.

Due to deteriorating economic and political situation, Jamaat-e-Islami Emir Sirajul Haq began negotiations with the PTI and ruling alliance.

A three-person JI team led by Haq met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and PTI Chairman Imran Khan today.

The PM and he discussed the political and judicial crises. Leaders decided that common wisdom should solve problems.

According to sources, the sessions successful because all parties agreed to negotiate to stop the months-long conflict. Said conflict hurt the country’s economy and people.

Since their April 2018 dismissal, the PTI chief and his party have protested for early elections, which the government has resisted.

The Shehbaz-led government refused to organise nationwide elections after the PTI dissolved Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies.

But the Supreme Court scheduled Punjab elections on May 14. The judges and government clashed after parliament rejected the verdict.

JI Secretary Information Qaisar Sharif said the JI emir conducted two critical meetings in Lahore today.

Haq, Liaqat Baloch, and Ameer Ul Azim of the JI visited PM Shehbaz in Model Town and Khan at Zaman Park.

He stated that the JI contacted political parties to get a consensus on having elections on the same day. According to Haq, the nation cannot afford anarchy.

The secretary of information stated PM Shehbaz believed political parties should sacrifice their ego and reach a national consensus during the JI delegation’s meeting with him.

“The prime minister said his party will cooperate if JI wants to play a [mediatory] role,” he continued.

The JI chief said both sides agreed to keep meeting and engage additional groups.

He claimed that the JI delegation met the PTI chairman at his Zaman Park mansion.
