This month, the Senate passed a bill to change the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999, despite protests and chants from the Opposition. The bill had already put forward by the National Assembly.
Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar put forward the bill because senators from the opposition said that the changes were about one person and would make the body that fights corruption toothless.
