LAHORE: According to Dawn, Someone from the Sikh community was killed in a drive-by shooting on Saturday in the Nawab Town area of Lahore, police said.
The 50-year-old guy was shot by gunmen on a motorbike. His name is Paramjit Singh Panjwar. Police say that he was on a morning walk with his guardian near his home in the Sunflower Housing Society when he was attacked at about 6:30 a.m.
A police officer said that Mr. Panjwar was killed by a gunshot to the head. In the attack, the bodyguard was also hurt. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where his situation was said to be critical. After the attack, the people who did it ran away.
An official said that cops rushed to the scene and put up barriers so they could gather evidence. The police also put out a “high alert” to increase patrols and spot checks in order to catch the suspects.
No group at first said they were behind the attack.
The police source said that it was too soon to say why Mr. Panjwar was killed, and that teams were looking into all possible leads.
He wouldn’t say anything about the news that one of the attackers was hurt in the crossfire.
Mr Panjwar’s body was moved to the city mortuary for an autopsy, and police experts were trying to get access to CCTV video of the crime scene to learn more about the suspects.
According to Indian Media, Mr. Panjwar was the chief of Khalistan Commando Force-Panjwar Chapter. He was one of the most wanted men in India.
