RAWALPINDI/LAHORE: Senior PTI leaders have charged with attacking the General Headquarters (GHQ) and ransacking the Lahore Corps Commander’s home.

RA Bazaar police station in Rawalpindi registered the first information report under 10 criminal sections, including 7 ATA, 353/341/440/441 PPC.

In the FIR, a police squad stationed opposite Gate No. 1 of the GHQ said that an angry mob of 250 to 300 individuals, led by PTI leader Raja Basharat, shouted slogans against the army. They sought to enter the premises, but stopped.

A police party commanded by a senior superintendent of police is raiding the former Punjab law minister. As well as approximately 200 GHQ attackers.

After Imran Khan’s detention, multiple PTI leaders charged in Lahore’s Race Course and Sarwar Road Police Stations for city violence.

On Station House Officer Aftab Nawaz’s complaint, Race Course Police Station booked Azhar and 80 others under the ATA.

The FIR claims Azhar’s mob attacked Club Chowk. They also insulted the army, courts, other sensitive institutions.

On the complaint of DSP Rana Ashfaq, the Sarwar Road Police Station registered a separate FIR.

Murder, attempted murder, and 20 other Pakistan Penal Code provisions involved.

Khan and other PTI leaders identified. The PTI chief Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Farrukh Habib ordered PTI leaders Mian Aslam Iqbal and Mian Mehmood ur Rasheed to lead the protesters.

Azhar, Musarrat, and Jamshed Iqbal Cheema encouraged the ransacking, according to the FIR. Zubair Niazi, Asad Zaman, Murad Saeed, and Ali Amin Gandapur also accused.

Khan’s arrest

Khan arrested on Tuesday at the Islamabad High Court for multiple issues outstanding since his ouster last year, sparking nationwide demonstrations.

In Karachi, Lahore, and Faisalabad, police used tear gas and water cannon to disperse Khan supporters, while demonstrators blocked roads in Islamabad, Peshawar, and other towns.

After the party called on followers to “shut down Pakistan” following his detention, workers burned police vehicles and vandalised public property in Charsadda, Karachi, Lahore, and other cities.
