Lahore: PTI has denied having anything to do with the recent violence that happened during protests against the arrest of its leader, Imran Khan. They said that the statement from Inter-services Public Relations (ISPR) didn’t take into account what was happening on the ground.
The PTI’s response comes a day after the military’s media wing made a strong statement. In which it called May 9, the day when fighting and protests broke out, a “black chapter in history.”
“We think that the only way to reach our goals is to stay peaceful. Not by use of violence, and follow the law and the Constitution. “PTI has always warned against going against the Constitution and the law,” said a statement from the party.
It said that the PTI thought that people and institutions both required to follow the law.
“There are many reasons why people are angry about Imran Khan’s arrest,” PTI said. The statement added that acts outside of the law and the destruction of the economy were also among the things that made people angry.
The party said that Imran Khan also proposed free and fair elections as a way to end the political and administrative chaos that is going on right now.
It also said that PTI was against taking away people’s right to sovereignty through interference and rigging in elections. Because of this, people liked the political ideas and beliefs of the party’s leader, Imran Khan.
