Karachi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) backed Jamaat-e-Islami for Karachi mayor, which hurt the Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) majority. So, the PPP went to the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) to ask for support for the mayor position.
The Karachi branch of the party has asked JUI-F to back it in the elections for mayor and deputy mayor. Even though both parties have said they want to work together. The JUI-F won’t make a final choice until it talks with its central leadership.
Saeed Ghani, the president of the PPP in Karachi, and Javed Nagori, the general secretary, met with Allama Rashid Mahmood Soomro, the general secretary of the JUI-F in Sindh, at his home to talk about the possible alliance.
The two political leaders met to talk about the upcoming local elections in Karachi. They talked about issues related to different cities and union governments.
Soomro stressed that the JUI-F is committed to principled politics and said that politicians should always be willing to talk. He said that the party has made deals with other political groups that are in line with this idea.
