Webdesk: Taylor Swift has hinted that her new song is about her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
The singer’s new song “You’re Losing Me,” which came out on Friday, has made her fans scratch their heads as she explains why she broke up with her boyfriend.
“You say, ‘I don’t understand,’ and I say, ‘I know you don’t,'” she says in the song.
“We thought there would be a cure in time, but now I’m afraid there won’t be.”
Swift asks in another part of the song, “Do I throw out everything we built or do I keep it?” before saying, “I’m getting tired even for a phoenix. Always coming back from the dead.”
“Stop, you’re losing me,” she says several times in the chorus, adding, “My heart won’t start anymore for you.”
She asks, “How can you say you love someone you don’t know is dying?” “How long could we be a sad song until we were too far gone to bring back to life?”
Taylor then hints that she broke up with Alwyn because she wanted to get married.
“I also wouldn’t marry me. A person who is always trying to please other people. Who wanted only for you to see her.”
Taylor Swift and her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn broke up this year after being together for six years.
“They’ve been through rough times before, but they’ve always worked things out,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “Their friends thought they would take some time apart, but that they would eventually get back together.”
Swift, who is 33, and Alwyn, who is 32, “didn’t work out,” they said.
