Webdesk: Some fans so upset that one of the main characters died at the end of Yellowjackets that they threatened to kill the show’s co-creator, Ashley Lyle.
“So, I know that some people really liked the end of #Yellowjackets and others didn’t (is getting death threats a rite of passage for showrunners? Because I don’t need that one! But I’d like to take a moment to thank everyone who joined us on this ride,” Lyle wrote on Twitter on Friday.
She said, “If it made you happy, made you laugh, made you think, made you cry, or just gave you a break from real life, then it was all worth it. We can only tell the story that needs to be told.”
Karyn Kusama, who made the epic ending, told The Hollywood Reporter that Natalie’s death planned from the beginning.
“She always meant as a character who played a part we come to love on TV: the rebellious, self-destructive, self-sabotaging, self-sabotage-loving, self-stirring shit-stirrer. We knew that people liked to watch these characters. But the truth is that they actually or figuratively destroy themselves,” Kusama said.
